Beauty and the Beast

I loved exploring the themes of self-love, acceptance and embracing differences with my actors. In the acting, blocking and design choices, I tried to emphasize that while the Beast and castle staff long to regain their human form, it is by rediscovering the humanity already within them that they are saved. I chose to go with a Rococo style in design elements, because not only is that accurate to the time period in which the story is set, but by going in a more realistic direction rather than a more cartoony feel, it allows the audience to consider the deeper themes present in the story.
